The Little Slipper Company was founded in February 1991.The owner has worked in both the South African and United Kingdom shoe industries for over 45 years. The Port Elizabeth-based factory started off producing 500 pairs of slippers a day for a top quality South African retailer.
As the business grew, so did the product range, which now includes school shoes in black and brown colour ways (the Schoolmates brand), and children’s shoes, boots and sandals (the Little Slipper Co brand).
The factory now produces well over 7000 pairs daily and employs more than 350 people. Little Slipper Company still continues to supply the same top South African retailer and has also exported products to leading quality chain stores overseas.
Genuine leather and other top quality components are used in the manufacture of all Little Slipper Company shoes and slippers, which are also developed and fit approved by children’s footwear experts. Little Slipper Company products are made in South Africa by South Africans for South Africans.
The Little Slipper Company also supports social upliftment within the surrounding communities. This has been accomplished through the development of outwork factories that are run by previously disadvantaged persons. Donations of footwear are also given out to charitable organisations and the company strives to assist its employees in any way it can.
The company opened its first factory shop in 1994 in North End. This shop has become so popular that it attracts customers from all over the country. In December 2010 a second factory shop was opened in the Bloomingdales Lifestyle Centre which is in Main Road Walmer between 9th and 10th Avenue. In November 2012 a third factory shop was opened in East London in the Da Gama industrial building in Voortrekker road. The following year the Greenacres shop opened its doors in the Rochelle Centre. The company hopes to open more this year across the country.
The Little slipper factory shops offer top quality genuine leather shoes, sandals, school shoes, slippers and vests at factory shop prices.
